i tried installing my hard drive on another computer and the whole drive just crash i reinstall all drives and software except windows xp, when i bought the upgrade i activated windows xp software on another computer, but i am trying to activate it now on the same hard drive but not the same computer, can i do that? because i read on the box it can only be install only on one computer.... what i am trying to do is just reinstall windows xp on the same hard drive but different computer ....note i am not trying to have two computers with the same software.... just one hard drive but different mother board...

As long as the OS is installed on one PC you should be ok. If you've activated it within the last month or so you may have to call Microsoft to activate it but it's usually not a problem. As long as, like you said, the end result is the OS is installed on one PC.

Cheers

What is the exact error message you are seeing?

Will it work in Safe Mode?

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
