I am currently in Germany and I have found a copy of Windows XP Professional for 130 Euros, which is around $170 right now. This is an OEM version. I have not yet purchased it because I wanted to do a little research on whether or not I will run into problems with using the UK version in the US. Does anyone know if there are any major differences between the US and the UK version of XP? If not, I will buy the thing.

Linney,

I am worried about compatibility issues with the hardware and applications that I would be purchasing in the US. I live in the US. I was just wondering if there were compatibility issues between US and UK versions. I know that it will not stop working when I get back.

Thanks,
Bryan

Famous last words come to mind with that comment. All I can say it is hard to find anything on Google to confirm or allay your fears.

Not being a resident of either the UK or USA perhaps I should just shut up.

I have decided to bite the bullet and just pay the outrageous $300 bones when I get back stateside. I have had some A+ training, and I am confident that I can support myself as far as installation, backup and recovery, but I know enough to realize the value of Microsoft support. I would also like to be able to do an upgrade install at will (the first will be clean so that I am starting fresh). But all of my computers are a bit old, so the ability to move the license is going to be key when I get around to upgrading my hardware. This was all stuff that I already knew, I was just being a cheap-skate. Thanks for reeling me in.
