I recently upgraded a friends computer to Service Pack 2 (SP2). After the upgrade i was inundated with a range of issues. The current situation is as follows

*Windows Media Player v.10 will not burn music/media to cd's. After selecting which files to burn, i click burn now. And recieve an "Unknown Error" message. I've looked up this error on Microsofts support site, but that only gives a general list of issues with Media Player. I tried all of the suggestions anyway. Sitll no luck. I know it's not a hardware problem because i can burn with Nero burning software. And any media i put in my burner is responding fine. My guess is that it is an issue with SP2, but i have had no luck finding a solution for it.

Also, is there a general consensus that SP2 is causeing major problems?

Always grateful to everyone on this site.

Thank you.

Make sure the disc is not copy right protected if so, go to your settings and enable the Media player to burn and copy copy righted cds! If that doesnt work try going back to vs9 and see if you can burn cds through it! Good Luck!

ThanX NoobX. Appreciate it. If you know off hand where to get v.9 that would be greatly appreciated.

Either you can do a system resotore! Ill just tell you how microsoft reccomends it!

To roll back from Windows Media Player 10 to a previous version, do the following:
In Control Panel (Category View), click Add or Remove Programs.
Click Remove a program, and then do one of the following:
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, select the Show updates check box (at the top of the list), click Windows Media Player 10 (in the Windows Updates section), and then click Change/Remove.
- or -
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or earlier, click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.

You can also use System Restore to roll back to the previous version of the Player. For more information about System Restore, see the Use System Restore to Undo Changes if Problems Occur page.
