Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I have a windows xp pro installation on one of my computers that is about a year old now. Over the past couple of months I have noticed that it is gradually getting slower. What can be causing this?
I defrag weekly, I run adaware daily, I have unused services disabled, I run virus scans weekly with BitDefender. I have turned off System Restore, defragged then removed and recreated my swap file, basically everything that I have found so far on the web that can be causing slowdowns. I also download the security patches from microsoft everytime they come out.
My hardware configuration:
AMD Athlon Barton 2500, Asus A7N8X DELUXE mobo, 1024 Kingston Hyper X ram. 80 Gig WD hdd with 20 gig free. Nvidia Geforce vid card, and am using the built in audio and nic from the mobo.
Am I destined to do a repair install?
Thanks very much
