Windows XP Pro Security Question

I am a complete newbie to the internet. Please Help.
I have a DSL conection with a D-link ethernet card. For the network

Properties for the PCI ethernet card I unchecked the following 1)

client for Micosoft Networks 2) File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft

Networks 3) QoS Packet scheduler and 4) internet Protocal(TCP/IP).

My question is since i have unchecked all of the above protocols am I

secure. That is is there any way for data to be sent to or from my

computer since TCP/Ip is turned off for the NIC card. I know that I

could just disable the card, but I need the card to be physically there

for a program to run. My concern is whether or not any program can

still send data to the internet?

thank you

You could just unplug the cable...

If you've removed all protocols, you should be safe - the NIC will only transmit or receive over the cable if it has a protocol bound to it.

Hope this helps. CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
