Windows XP Pro Admin Password recovery 1

Somewhere along the line the admin password was hacked on my system...my original password no longer works...I have tried to attempt a password recovery disk to no avail...any ideas other than to remove the current xp and put it on again and lose everything.

Do you have a user account with administration priveleges?

This is My personal computer....and for some reason...my password no longer works...I did not change it....

If it is your 'normal user' account password that you're having trouble with, you can log on as 'administrator' and change or reset the password. Press CRTL-Alt-Del at the Welcome screen.

When I try this the password screen appears and the only password I have every entered on my screen does not work.....it keeps asking me if I have forgotten my password....which I have not....

Sorry, that should have been C-A-D twice[/]. Then for the account name enter Administrator with no password. Hopefully, this is not the account you normally use.

okay I tried that...it is still telling me invailed password....I hate windows.....

If you haven't made a password reset disk for your user account and can't log on to the administrator account, you've got a problem.

Are there any other user accounts on the computer with administrative priveleges?

Before you give up and reinstall, it might be worth a try to borrow another keyboard then try to logon again, just in case your keyboard has a bad key.

I just found something that may work. Have a look at this:

If you can get into the administrator account, you can reset the password on your user account.
