We have an XP Pro machine in an office, being used as a print server. We're fully aware of the 10 concurrent connections issues, however the timeout for net sessions has been reduced to 1 minute, which should be enough for the usage. However, when we run net sessions from the command prompt, we see that some session go over the 1 minute timeout. Further investigation seems to point to entries in net files keeping the net session open. In net file, the path is \PIPE\spoolss and if we close these, then the session finally ends. Can anyone helps with closing down these net files faster and automatically.

Thanks.

Thanks...however, according to the link this issue has been fixed in the latest service pack, and the machine is Windows XP Pro SP2. Therefore, does this fix still apply?

Many thanks.

Call SPSS, as SP2 did not fix the issue.
They are aware of this.

I was having similar issues a while back. I was never able to resolve them. I ended up having to use share manager to manually delete any leftover sessions, so I just ended up getting a static IP address for my pinter and connecting directly.

See if anything in this discussion thread helps you. I gave up and just connected another way - using xp pro for this just didn't seem to measure up for me.

Sorry about the delayed response but I've been away. I got the hotfix suggested, however it wouldn't install, stating the cause as being that I already had service pack 2. I've tried the tcpip limit patch to increase to 50 half open connections, however this hasn't helped either. Are there any other suggestions?

thnx.
