Hi,

I have three Pcs on a Peer to Peer two running XP Professional and the other XP Home Edition plus they are all running "Amadeus global travel distribution system" they are all surfing the internet via a Adsl Router, they can all ping each other but they can browse each other

I have uninstalled the Network Cards and reinstalled
I have use the Windows Network Wizard
I have changed the Switch
I have tested the cables
I have used static Ips instead of using the DHCP from the router

And now I am fed up, next thing I will do is reformat the PCs and start from ground up.

Anyone has any thoughts?

Make sure all of the PC's are on the same workgroup. When you ping each machine are you using IP address or computer name? Can you UNC to each machine?

Cheers
Rob

If someone helps you, leave them a star. It is just a nice way to say "Thank you"

The answer is "PEBKAC!

did u enable file & printer sharing?
are there shares on each pc?
do u use a firewall (xp firewall)?
do u get any error msg?

All the Machines are in the same Workgroup.
I can only ping via IP Address..

---------------------------------------------------------

File and Printer Sharing is enabled
They are shares on all the PC
Firewall is switched off
If I browse the PC via IP the Browser behaves like there is no such Pc on the Network

none of the machines can see any other?

is simplified sharing enabled on the Pro machine?

I suspect use of Network wizard - because I never use it, and I never have any problems with XP networking. And many 'wizard' posts here do have problems, so I wonder if it changes settings?

Try looking in the advanced bit of TCP/IP setting on each machine under the WINS tab. Enable LMHOSTS lookup should be ticked and Netbios should be set according to the note there (mine's always default as use DHCP server which does provide Netbios setting)

btw - I know you have firewall off - but you haven't got something like Norton, McAfee etc installed - there are lots of 3rd party apps which prevent LAN connections by default.
