Hey,I am having some trouble with getting Windows XP to recognize my hard drive. I have recently reinstalled Win XP Pro with service pack 2. I have the following drives on the computer, and all of these drives are recognized in bios and in device manager.

1.) SAMSUNG SP2504C 230 GB SATA II: This is the drive that the OS is on and it works properly. (Drive C in My Computer)
2.) Western Digital WD2000BB 200GB on Primary IDE-Master: My Computer lists this drive as drive D, and says that it needs to be formated for some reason,I have a lot of my back up data on this drive so I would really not want to have to format it.
3.) Maxtor 92041u4 20GB on Primary IDE-Slave: This drive is not recognized in My Computer.
4.) CD-ROM drive on Secondary IDE: This drive is working properly.

So I am really not sure where th

So I am really not sure where the problem lies, because all drives were recognized during windows setup,in BIOS, and in Device MNGR. The only thing I can think of is that during the win installation setup could not copy idecoi.dll, I retried it a few times, and it did not work, so I skipped that file, and the installation finished with no problem.

If anyone has had a similar problem or knows how to fix this please let me know. Thanks in advance

Have you tried going into the Management console?

Right click My computer->Manage, Storage-> Disk Management.

Are they shown there? If so what is there status?

It sounds to me that the drives have a file system, or partition problem?

Try looking for Data recovery software to get your important data out, and then you can format it and place the data back on it.

You can also try looking from Partition repair software see if they can restore the partition and file system of the drives.
