Hi,

i've installed WinXP on my machine three days ago. I've passed a very painy installation phase but now it seems that everything is fine except one thing (perhaps you may think that its unimportant). Windows is not shutting itself down.

It makes everything while shutting down but at the and it writes 'It's now safe to turn off your computer' but my computer does not shut down automatically.

My computer is an AMD Athlon K7 800 MHz machine with Gigabyte GA7VX mainboard on it. I may give other details if needed.

Thanks for your help from now.

If I remember rightly its an issue with XP, check the Microsoft updates page and search through the Knowledge Base articles.

Go to the control panel, and if ya need to, click the link on the upper-left hand side to switch to classic view. Then go to POwer Options, and look under APM tab up on top. If Advanced POwer Management is not checked, check it. By default, my desktop did not have this automatically checked after installation of XP, but my laptop did. Go figure...

Oh! Thanks god for giving friends like xyrx!

Thank you very much its okay now!
