Windows XP, Internet explorer popup auto start

Using Windows XP with internet explorer 6.0
It is getting very annoying that every time I start my IExplorer a popup window is downloaded automatically at the bottom of my browser.
I need to un-installed but I cannot find out how. I know it is going to

Is there a way to find out where these hidout web startup are.
I am trying to avoid downloading a popup killer...
(ie popzilla...)

You need a un-hijacker, not a popup stopper. Your IE has already been hijacked.

Run Hijack This!
It will not leave behind a popup stopper, it will only remove the IE hijacking you now observe.
