Hi

I have recently carried out an Upgrade from Win98SE to Windows Xp Home. The upgrade process ran very smoothly and Windows XP was installed succesfully.

After a couple of hours of net use and installing programs the PC began to lock up. The first time it did it I assumed it was the program I had just installed was causing the crash, so i removed it. But the problem came back. It only appears to be occuring when connected to the internet and swithching between programs.

My set-up is:
PC Chips 810LMR
1GB SDRAM (2 x 512MB PC133)
40GB Western Digital Caviar
Voodoo 5 64MB PCI VGA Card
Intergrated sound chipset.
Alcatel Speedtouch USB DSL Modem
Logitech Quickcam Express (USB)
300W PSU

What I thought could be causing the problem is the integrated VGA chipset. There is no option to disable it in the BIOS! Has anybody else had any similar problems?

Regards

Gary

Just a thought only, but if your on internet when it freezes have a look at the size of your internet files cache. In IE it is under Tools/Internet Options/Temporary Internet Files/Settings. See what size it is.
