I have recently networked two XP Home computers on a wireless linksys router that is hooked up to a cable modem, I am able to achive internet access from my two wireless laptop computers, but i am unable to see the share drives on each of the computers, when I click on my network connections and view my work group I only see my own computer, and not the other, thats the same thing happens on the other laptop

I have verified the following;
Same workgroup name,
The two computers have differnt host names,
I have selected the two check boxes on the sharing feature for my C drive, my documents, and program files,
I have enabled the guest account to be on
On the TCP IP properties I have set the default selection on the Wins tab for the netbios setting,
The Lmhostfile file is set to import(I haven't checked it to see if the computer name is there, I will later today)
I have unchecked the check box with internet firewall, that is prvoed by XP Home, (eventhough by doing that it ocasionally kills my internet connection i have to reconnect through the network connection properties wireless setting)

Am I missing something (yeah its called Windows 98)can someone assist, thanks for the help

i am using xp pro at home and not "XP home" but what I have done is this

either:
right click the folder and select "sharing" if this option is not there then in windows explorer, folder options goto the view tab and at the bottom unlick or click (whichever) "use simple file sharing"

alternatively

In windows explorer I dragged the folder i wanted to share on to the bottom part i think called "shared docs" or something similar

then on the other pc map a drive as follows

\\pcname\sharename

or

\\ipaddress\sharename

Don't place your faith in the Network Neighberhood results. It can take up to 2 hours for the names to appear. Try accessing the computer direclty, either with the IP or sometimes typing the share name will work. (open an Explorer windows and type "\\computer\share". You can also try by using the IP address direclty: "\\192.168.100.2\share" but you need to know the other computer's IP (DOS prompt, type IPCONFIG)

A trick I found that seems to work, is to do a "Search for Computer" and type in the name of the other computer. This causes the network to "broadcast" and find the computer name on the network.

The problem is due to Master Browsing issues that we should not get into.
