HI

I loaded a copy of Visual Studio onto Windows XP (home)which seemed to work ok.

At the end of the installation I was insructed to restart my computer. This I did, however, the computer after taking what seemed like an eternity, came up with an error message as follows

ISAass.exe

the application failed to initialize properly
OXC0000006

CLICK ON ok TO TERMINATE APPLICATION, which it duly does.

Is there anyway I can get around this problem?

If I could just get into Windows perhaps I could delete the offending program (which I hasten to add is bona fide MS software on a bonafide copy of Windows

Any help much appreciated
Many Thanks

Sorry, just to add Safe Mode gives the same error message as does last known good configuration

HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console for Windows XP (Q307654)

Try running ChkDsk /r from the Recovery Console.

This following procedure will allow you to, perhaps, fix the problem.

An easy to follow recovery console description when unable to start computer due to corrupt registry.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
