Windows XP / Dell Computer - Shuts Down 1

I purchased a Dell Computer with Windows XP about two years ago. And just recently my PC keeps freezing up or it will shut down all by itself. I have not added any new programs and I have try all the basic "fix its". Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you checked your fans (CPU and case)? Make sure all the vents are clean. It sounds like a heat problem.
