Windows xp client cannot see linus server in Network Neighborhood unless I typ in the network name or address. What could bethe problems??'

I'm assuming that your talking about Samba. Is the Samba server set up to be in the same workgroup as the Windows machines? Check the /etc/samba/smb.conf file.

I am reinstalling the linux 7.3 using custom command and selecting all te packages. Yes I did have the same workgroup names... I will check back when done.
 
Ok I finished initializing the drive and setting up again. I did the full install of 7.3 Redhat and now can see eachother using and running samba at startup. A suggestion for all the other newbies, don't try get crafty, just insert the needed information such as workgroup and shares and leave everything else blank until you are ready to restrict users. This was my downfall, as I thought I had to allow them first!
