I am having a problem running a Pdox9 App on Windows XP. The problem is that the getRegistryValue() method is failing, thereby returning a null value. This same call has worked on Win95 ,98, and ME. The issue is permissions related. With Admin rights the method works and returns the correct value. With user or poweruser rights, it fails. Any ideas? let me know.

If you do a right click on the pdox.exe file go to compatability then try running it under 2000, 98, etc

we found that outlook 97 won't run properly on xp but by selecting 98/me it seems to run ok.

We are still shaking it down on one pc. The only other problem is to maxzise xp you need to run it on NTFS an some programs don't support that file system.

please reply if this works

Well, the problem we had was that the getNetUserName() method was giving false returns under Novell, and that required me to use the registry as the source for obtaining accurate user names. Now that we've moved to XP and an NT/Novell hybrid system, the getNetUserName() method appears to work properly. So my particular problem was resolved by returning to my original code (LOL). I will try your suggestion anyway, as it may apply to heretofore unknown problems. I have about 50 applications and one of them is bound to get upset over the move to XP.

Thanks,

Mac
