For example in MS-Office or MS-Excel (XP) or just from Windows itself, I can click on Help/F1 and get the "what do you want to do" popup. I can type in a question, for example, how do I change spacing. Next, choices are listed to click on, for example, Adjust Line or Paragraph Spacing. When I click on it, the window or pane that normally shows steps to take only shows an empty window.

Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks!

Scratch that - it's all smoke and mirrors.

See if any of these help, if the problem is just with Ms-Office a reinstall might fix it.

windows xp Help and Support do not work
thread779-758314

As with the previous Internet Explorer cumulative patches released with bulletins MS03-004 and MS03-015, later cumulative patches will cause window.showHelp( ) to cease to function if you have not applied the HTML Help update. If you have installed the updated HTML Help control from Knowledge Base article 811630, you will still be able to use HTML Help functionality after applying IE Cumulative patches.
