Does anyone have any experience with a legacy FP25D application and Windows XP? I have had no problems with Win 95,98; Win Me works with a minor tweak. My customer is buying new workstations and they would like to go with Win XP ( it's what's available anyway ).

Thanks for any advice.

Hi
When you have no choice.. you ought to try that.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
I can only wish you best of luck.. XP is more of W2000. SO if you were sure in W2000, you must not be far behind :)

Steve,
Unless the application is using a third-party .BIN or .PLB file that directly accesses the hardware or makes assumptions about running under DOS, then you shouldn't have any problems under XP. If it ran under NT or Win 2000, then this would also be a good sign.

There is no DOS in WINDOWS XP. You CANNOT run dos programs!

While technically correct, the DOS emulator that Win NT / 2000 / XP use, can handle many DOS programs (including FP 2.0, FPD 2.5b and FPD 2.6a - and most all the apps built with them). The only problems are with DOS programs that directly access the system hardware (video, COM ports, disk drives, etc.) and those that require 'old' memory manager models.

Thanks all for your help! The first install in XP is next week, I'll let you know...

Thanks again - Steve
