Greetings Tek-Tippers,

I have a Windows Server 2003 domain controller with all Windows XP Pro clients. I bring my laptop to work from time to time, which has XP Home installed. I have never had a problem getting on our network - anytime I navigate to a network resource, I am prompted for a user name and password. I type in my domain name and password, and I am through with no trouble at all.

Lately, though, my laptop has been acting up. When I try to connect to a network drive (or anything on the network), I am no longer prompted for a user name or password. Instead I get a message that says the resource can not be found because I either do not have the correct permissions or my account is locked out.

The strange thing is that sometimes I can connect, so I know it is not a permissions issue. I have also checked my account everytime and know it is not locked out. Furthermore, Windows has not asked for a user name, so I am not sure what account it is checking that could be locked.

I'm stumped....

Thank you in advance for your help, and if I posted this in the wrong forum, will you kindly direct me to the correct one?

Thanks!
Matt

Is it just me or did this all have to do with Windows and never even mention ethernet?

I feel sure Tek-tips has a forum for Windows XP, I would be surprised if it did not have one for Server 2003 (I confess I never looked for either, never having owned a Windows box, but they HAVE to be there)

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
