After restoring my database from backup, users are now
having problems accssing the database. They use crytsal
launcher and coonection via odbc with windows authentication to our sql database. After the restore they are getting the following message;

Connection failed:
SQLState: '28000'
SQL Server Error: 18456
Login failed for user 'Holtdom\username'

I pretty sure I have a permissions issue. I'm just not sure how to resolve it.

Appreciate any assistance.

Andrew

Have you tried creating a new ODBC connection? If not, then please try that and see if you are able to connect.

Yes I tried to re-create the DSN and was unable to get a connection. I then ran
the Grant70.sql script, but that also didn't produce any positive results.

In Enterprise Manager, check the SQL Server properties, and make sure that it's not running in SQL Server Authentication mode (I think in 7.0 there were options for Windows Authentication, Mixed Mode, and SQL Server Authentication).

Also, check the logins to make sure they still exist on the server.

Thank you. The windows accounts were missing. As soon as I
added them to the master and company databases all worked correctly.

Thanks again,

Andrew
