Windows Update Boot issue

in the last 2 weeks when i do windows updates on winxp pro sp2 the system would not reboot after the windows boot screen shows i get a blank screen

if anyone else had this issue and has a solution please assist

Which windows update are you trying to update ? Does the problem happen on any particular update for example what is the article number/critical update being applied, once you have this I would check the microsoft website for any problems when installing. There is usually a link for further info on the update. or does the problem happen with any update? To narrow the problem down, run windows updates via IE, tools, Windows Updates. Then select one update at a time and restart if you are prompted to do so. This will narrow the problem down.

Maybe try running windows updates in safe mode as well then reboot machine do you get the same problem?

i dont know what update it is i am loading PC from Ghost images and i have about 35 updates from MS
what i am doning now is installing 1 update at a time to try to figure out what update is giving me this problem
