Windows Update and Run As

I have about 8 power users that I need to update. I use the run as to access windows update. The downloads work fine but fail to install. Can anybody help with this problem?

You know what I had that problem also. It was like 15-22 update files that would download and fail to start. I had to do them manually. It has to do with the latest version of windows update, which I think is 6.

I figured out the problem had to do with the settings on our firewall and office update. Do you have a firewall up?

There was a lot of information on it in the ms forums so I would check that out also. Its kind of deep because you will be doing net traces and hops and all that stuff.

I do have a firewall, but I do not think that is the problem. I can download and install fine when I change the user to an "administrator" account on the local machines. Only when the user is still a "poweruser" and I change the instance of internet exlporer to the admin account is when this problem occurs.

The problem is, that even though you run Windows update under an admin context, the files it launches after downloading still run as the logged in user. Windows is not smart enough to cascade your "run as" to applications that are launched by the original one you opened.
This has always been a huge gripe with Windows for me.
I don't think there is a work around, other than to just log on with the admin account to start with before attempting to update the OS.
