Windows System Error

I have a Win2000 Pro box and I am getting a system error when starting it up.

The System Error: Reads
Unable to open dialog.

It also pops open the "Windows Update" window and the "Windows Status" window, but nothing is visible in these windows.

Do anyone know how to fix this system error?

Look as though your windows update service is having problems I would disable it in Services section under Administarive Tools. Also check what software is starting up when you login. Check for any unusual porcesses in Task Manager. Check your Event Log too.
