I have to computers. The first has Windows XP HOME edition and the second has PRO.

When windows shuts down the PRO shuts down in around 10 seocnds. In the PRO computer the user is logged in as ADMIN with no password.

The HOME edition seems to take forever and usually takes 45 seconds to shut down. Windows HOME always hangs on the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen and eventually does shut down. There is no login user for the HOME version.

I've tried numerous registry, defrag, spyware, and virus utilites with no luck in speeding the shut down time.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to increase the shut down time for my HOME edition?

It looks like you have addressed all the "usual suspects" so try this...
Boot into "Safe Mode"
Shutdown
Boot Normally
Shutdown.

I have found that this oftimes helps clear up rogue processes that write to the registry before shutting down.

Hope this helps.

Mistype I assume?

Comparing two different computers is not much use as they will probably be running different programs and therefor have different shutdown times.

If Shutdown speed is OK in Safe Mode, or even in Normal Mode with another user, there are clues to be gathered from that.
