I have an Access database on our network. If I start this file by double clicking it, all works fine.
If I make a shortcut to the file and I use this shortcut to start the file, it starts Access and load the file. After some time I get an error message "Windows can't find the file <\\......\filemname.mdb>. Check if you have entered the correct name and try again. If you want to search for a file push the Start button and then Search" (this is translated so it might be a little different in real). The file itself is correct loaded. I can work in the file without closing ther errormessage. If I have opened MS-Access itself and then use the shortcut I don't get the errormessage.

It is Windows XP Professinal, SP3, Office 2003.

Anyone an idea what to do to get rid of the errormessage?

First it is a Windows Error not an Access error so a different forum would have been better...

Having said that I am guessing the path is really long... What happens if you wrap the whole path and filename in double quotes? Sometimes Windows plays better this way.

Anyway good luck.

First, your right lameid, I'm sorry.
Your suggestion won't do the trick.
I will post the question somewher else.
