We have just upgraded our 3 main production servers to Windows Server 2003 from Windows Server 2000, these consist of a file server, SQL server and exchange server.

We are having problems running SQL jobs that run DTS packages. The error message is as follows :-

Error string: DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_1: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user.

We can execute DTS packages on their own from within the package but when SQL agent tries to run them as a job we get the error above.

When you run the packages manually are you doing it from your workstation of from the servers console?

manually they are run from the server via remote desktop or actually at the machine. ODBC hasn't been set on local machine.
Also using UNC path on ODBC even though the drive to the database is mapped on SQL Server machine
Cheers

Many thanks for your help.

Problem solved. Just incase anyone else gets this error,

We found by setting the registry setting of the ODBC to full UNC path it solved the problem. If possible set both the MDB file and MDW

Many thanks

Scott

It is always recommded to use the UNC path when accessing a remote file. There is no guarantee that a mapped drive will always be there.
