hey,

ive tried finding relevant articles already but have unfortunately failed. Im pretty much a newbie so excuse if I overlook obvious procedures.

I have following situation. A dedicated internet server with static IP running w2k3 server. An office A connected to the internet through a DLink DI-804HV vpn router.

My office is supposed to access files on the internet server through a VPN and so I want to create a permanent VPN connnection between the two. I believe the best way to do this is to configure the internet server as a VPN server, except, how do I do this? There are plenty of howtos and everything in the internet, i know, but somehow I just cant get it working. The configuration of the RAS service and all the security policies are somewhat mysterious to me. Similarily how i should configure the dlink router to connect to the server.

If anyone could help me out here i would appreciate it a LOT. This problem has been bugging me for 2 weeks now... Thanks in advance.

The easiest way to do this is have the same router at each location and each will need a static IP to be able to maintain a connection through the internet.

first of all thanks for replying...

i would do so except... the internet server is not controlled by me but provided by an ISP. It isnt physically here and I only access it by remote console
