Windows Server 2003 64 Hangs on Splash Screen and Safe Mode

Hi we have a server that we just happened to notice was down. We don't use it often but is still important. Unfortunately the person managing this server is no longer with the company. Anyway, it will hang on splash screen although the windows activity line graphic still shows it going from left to right indefinitely. Safe mode hangs at acpitabl.dat I believe. I will verify. There have been no updates to this server from what everyone tells me and it has been running for many months. Is a repair in order here? I don't believe there has been any backup done... Any thoughts?!

Hardware issues? Battery on MB dead? Probably needs new batter, a BIOS reset, and a reboot.

bios battery checks out, reset the bios and still hanging. going to try an os repair...
