Windows restarts after dialup has connected

i had the same issue when i installed a vpn client.
id suggest to first, get the latest software for your system - modem drivers, IE6 sp1, etc etc. also, disable third party stuff that accesses the internet.
also, check the settings for password authentication they should match those the ISP gave you. but first you might try to disable all authentication and security settings for passwords and restart, and then turn them all one by one, and every time connect to see if it works. it wont take you all that long. hope that solves it.
