Hi All,
I have been doing a lot of research on this topic but would like some opinions:
I have a Windows NT4.0 SP6A domain (we’ll call its domain DOMAIN), with two servers, one as a PDC and one as BDC, basically I want to consolidate these servers into one Windows 2003 Active Directory domain (we’ll call its domain ActDIR) controller.
I have downloaded a software package by Aelita (Domain migration wizard 6.0) which simplifies the domain migration process, I have managed so far to migrate users, groups and computers on the new active directory domain.
I will be also using one of Microsoft’s tools for migrating share names, files and folders to the new server.
The site being migrated has around 75 pc’s, and once everything has been migrated to the new server, I would like to rename the domain to the old Windows NT4 domain and also name the Windows 2003 Server the same as the old Windows NT4 PDC, disconnecting it from the network of course.
Does anyone think this is feasible? Or down right insane?
Thanks for reading, anticipating some varied opinions here.
Brendan
