We have several reports on our intranet, use Windows NT, and use Crystal Reports 8.0 on our web server. All the reports are contained in four folders. Three of the folders are available to all company employees and one of folders needs to be set so that only a particular management group can run. How can this be done?

I used the windows NT permissions on the file folder (windows nt security). However, unless I set the folder to 'everyone' access, the web server won't run the report (...page server error). Some of the management group have Crystal reports on their local machines so they can access it by going to the folder on the network, but those who don't have CR are currently S.O.L.. How can I get around this problem? Thanks

I don't know if this will help, but here's what you could do. Create a home page with hyperlinks to the different cyrstal reports that you have. That page would link you to a different page that contains your crystal reports on the web server. Now, for the original homepage, restrict access via Windows NT permissions. Thus, no one can access the homepage that contains the links to your reports. This will work, but there's one thing to keep in mind. The reports can still be viewed if anyone outside your group takes a wild guess and discovers the page that your referring to.

This what I've have done at work, but I would like to discover a better way to secure these reports. If you find out a better way, please let me know too.
