Hi,

If I understand the question correctly, you are trying to run a NT (NTFS) program on a Win95/98 standalone workstation (maybe fat32).

I believe due to the different file system used and the fact that one id NT and the other bog standard Windows I do not think that this is possible.....

Although I would be interested to hear different.

Hey
W95/98 are based on conventional DOS and applications can access the hardware directly. NT (new technology) isnt and NT apps can't, there is a HAL (hardware abstraction layer) in the OS that does the hardware handling. Therefore, for one thing, any calls made directly to the hardware will fail. Unless I am shamelessly mistaken.

Which application is it that you say is designed for NT, because most off-the-shelf stuff, will have installers for both, or sometimes a combined installer.

To answer your question more directly, can we have more info?

You're right there Pritch, and don't forget that there are numerous differences in other APIs besides that of the HAL.

As a general thing, it should be assumed that if a program was written for NT, and states MyApp for NT, then it won't work on 9x or vice versa. There are exceptions. :)
