Does Windows NT server provide a backup function to tape only? Is it possible for me to backup to disk or file like Windows 2000 server?

I dont think so, Just copy the ntbackup.exe file from a 2000 box and run it on your nt server maybe? 01110000

Just copying NTbackup from a W2k server doesn't work. It has to be installed (I think). It asks for some DLLs.

I have not found a way to backup Exchange 5.5 on NT without a 3rd party backup!

I have spent the past week trying to create an exact replica of our exchange server (in order to simulate upgrading to W2k and Exchange 2000) with no success...

The closest thing I have found is create a W2k server on your domain and install Exchange Administrator (installs special files allowing NTbackup to backup Exchange (backup.hlp, backup.cnt, edbbcli.dll)) Then you can backup the exchange 5.5 server on NT while it is down to a file.

I have tried backing it up while the exchange services are runnning, but it skips the 3 database files and some others as well....
