i have 2 nt servers set up. one pdc on bdc. I've configured every thing ip address are in the same range and subnet mask is the same, but when i try and join the domain i get unable to locate domain controller for this domain. I can ping each computer and get a response, so i dont think its the nic. The only thing i can think it might be is the hub.
please any info will be greatly helpful thanks

Have you checked to be sure that the domain name (on your workstation) under Control Panel/Network/client for microsoft networks/properties matches the name that is defined for the server(s)? I've had similar messages from that.

Maybe you are having a problem with WINS resolution.

Either use LMHOST files or a WINS server service to provide WINS resolution.

Yeah, make sure that you have joined the domain and the PDC will see you as an NT server in Server Management in Administrative tools of your PDC. Then once you do that you can set out the trusts from your PDC and then you can promote as BDC or PDC if you are not gonna use that domain name and promote a new one. Also, when you first installed NT Server you get the prompt asking you if this will be a BDC or PDC, you can set that up there as well but that is only on installation. If you have installed NT server already then you just have to promote the server as a BDC. This is all established in the trusts dialog boxes
