Windows not cacheing profiles with Samba Domain

Two days ago all of our laptops that are taken off site started throwing "Domain not found" errors when not plugged into the office network. In the past these logins were cached on the local machine and you could login without a problem.

Nothing has changed on the server side, or on the client side that WE are aware of. All of a sudden Windows started requiring a domain controller to be available.

There is one relevant Event in the Windows logs,

Event ID 5719

No Domain Controller is available for domain AFFILIATED due to the following:
The RPC server is unavailable. .

I know windows relies on a series of events for cacheing to actually happen.

Anyone have any ideas?

I should also mention

We are running Samba 3.0 on Suse 9.2 Enterprise, yast wast used for setting up the domain.

I just realized how little information I provided in this post, I was kind of freaking out.

I have found the culprit; or more accurately the fix. Turning off "LDAP client signing requirements" in the local security policy of the laptop clients will allow them to once again login and cache their accounts.

I don't know why this is happening so if anyone has any input please share.
