Hi all,

I have several win98 workstations and some win95 ones. I have an exchange server and all win95 are using messaging to connect to their mail. I have installed the messaging app found on the win95 CD on the win98 clients: works fine.

My question is: Is it legal to do this?

Thanks for any input

The only legal thing you should worry about is: do you have (enough) client licenses for your Exchange server?

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.
Free Tip: The F1 Key does NOT destroy your PC!

Installing the old messaging app on win98 is fine. In fact, if you dig through the win98 cd, you will find a folder named oldwin95 (or something similar) that contains wms.exe - the messaging app.

Just for info: Beware that the client on the Exchange CD is not the same as the one on the 95 CD. Legally, it does not matter, but if you ever need to use the client on a 5.5 Exchange server to perform administrative tasks, you MUST use the one from the Exchange CD or it will not work.

Thanks for all your input, it really helped
