While using windows media I was prompted to update it, so I did. I can still use the media player on its own without a problem. Now when I try to view videos in websites it will allow me to watch the 5 sec opening billboard no problem, but then I am not able to watch the actual video. It says "connecting to media" and then it just says "ready" and nothing happens. Any ideas?

My wife had this same issue running Windows XP SP1 and Media Player 8. She installed some windows updates and from then on she couldn't see the actual video embedded into webpages. We tried everything related to codecs and drivers and couldn't get anything to work...we ended up installing Media Player 10 beta and that fixed the problem.
