I am using a Windows 2003 Server in Terminal Services. We are trying to play DVDs with no success. Originally, I got a message saying we didn't have the correct decoder, so I went and found the suggested decoders at Microsoft and installed Nvidia.

Now I'm getting a different message. It is telling me to change my display settings. I've changed the color and resolution to everything I can, but I still get the same message.

Is it possible I cannot run the DVD in Terminal Services or am I missing something?

Any help would be appreciated.

I would be worried about bandwidth in a terminal session, after all the idea of using TS is to save on bandwidth.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

This might be of interest to you:

Enable DVD Features in Media Player

PS: don't download anything...

also I suggest you download the following codec pack, it contains all the codecs you will ever need to enjoy clips/films/movies/dvds etc. on you system... it includes the MediaPlayer Classic, which looks and feels like the venerable MediaPlayer 6.4 from days gone by, but underneath it is uptodate media player artist (not as slick as VLC see above posts)...

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 4.2.5

For the record, I wouldn't download and install any 3rd-party software on your Windows 2003 server that you don't have to. I would be especially cautious about free codec packs. Why don't you grab a cheap license/disc of WinDVD or PowerDVD and use that instead?

I've used freebies in the past like VLC and BSPlayer, but when it comes to stability, they may not be the best choices for your server.
