Windows ME Alcatel Adsl Modem

I have a problem with my Alcatel adsl modem. After installing the modem on Windows ME the system will crash on shutdown, The GPF @ ndis.vxd comes up.

I know its the modem as when i uninstall it and restart windows it work fine on shutdown no problems at all

Yes I have the exact same problem. Bellsouth claims they have no answer at this time but are working on some beta drivers which they do not yet fully support. But I say if the ones they do support are this bad I will wait to test the new ones until I hear from someone else who has, how they worked. Have you tried them yet? I can't remember the address where you can download them but if you call bellsouth and ask them about the "Beta Drivers" they will tell you. Please let me know if you try them how they work if it clears up this shut down problem or not. or if you hear of any other new drivers for the bellsouth alcatel system that work better!

This modem has a problem with W2K and probably does with ME as well.

You see i used this modem with Win2000 and everything is fine. I have heard if you upgrade the driver you will get problems with win2k. So i am running it with the standard driver, works fine. Also i am using Wingate as an alternative to internet connection sharing. This work great also.

It just on ME that i have my troubles

Well I tried the new drivers and it seems to have cleared the problem up. (I have had no trouble yet after 2 days so it looks good)The address is: (ftp://software:download@bellsouth.net/fastaccess/readme.html)
