windows mail 0x0000001E

A friend of mine format his computer , windows 7 , installed all updates , windows live essential 2011...etc...

Now when he write an email in hotmail or in windows mail , he get error 0x0000001E BSOD when he click on a file he want to join in his message , ???

normal or forwarding message is no problem,

no driver is showing in text message BSOD , it is what all forums I dig mentionned to look for,

I reinstalled wlm2011, same probleme

Have a clue ?

If I'm reading this correctly, you are receiving a BSOD upon sending a new email to anyone but can read emails and forward them correctly? Have you checked hardware? Tested Hard drive and memory? Good place to start for random BSODs.
Also setup a yahoo or gmail account quick and see if issue persists. If hotmail/wlm have autosaves that could explain a hardware issue.

the problem is really only happen when we want to send a email with file atach to it,

we click attach , go to documents, choose file to attach AND BANG BSOD

normail email no problem NO PROBLEM TO SEND AND RECEIVE, also no problem to receive and look at file attached to email

Do you have issues downloading the attached file from someone and viewing it outside of wlm?
Example: I send you an Excel file, you download it to your desktop and actually view it in your Excel. Does it BSOD then?

If so, Hard drive/memtest

If you cant run hardware diagnostics the only other thing I can tell you to try that's quick would be to log on to that hotmail/wlm account from another PC. See if it does similar things. If it works fine I would start with hardware tests, best to know early if it is hardware related in case there is any vital data on his possibly dieing machine.
According to WLM as long as you have the base system requirements for 7 you should be good, I would uninstall WLM with "Your Uninstaller" or something similar to remove possible pesky reg files along with the program, then do Windows updates to make sure your current. Then before redownloading WLM log into the hotmail account and see if it works natively in browser. If so download WLM and try again.

Do the first download only and install it, trial program will work fine for testing this possiblity.

One last thing to check, do a dxdiag from the RUN window just to make sure you have at least Direct X 9 in case it somehow got uninstalled.

I was on site wednesday , i tried yours suggestions

- remove WLM , try hotmail in browser, same problem;

- check hard dsik with crystal disk info ; everything is ok
- check memory with memtest for 8 minutes 28% test ; all ok

- tried hotmail in google chrome, same problem;

- install incredimail , no problem at all ...
- desactivate kaspersky resident and mail protection,

- reinstall WLM ; same problem ; very strange .

my friend is now using incredimail...

Glad you atleast found a workaround. Ive heard others having issues with WLM 11 and rectified it by going back to Windows Live Essentials 2009 but if he likes incredimail and it works, I'd say keep using it.


P.S. Dont know if you want to keep investigating this issue but I did find these two possibilities in this tread...

hi , everybody, after after two weeks , I thaught it was over, but no , my freind leave a message tonight , she tried to sent a file attahc to a message with incrediamil AND BOUM BSOD just after she clicked the file name of her choice...will be on site this week-end to look at....

i will check your last sufggestion. DRBOB...may be...

really stange , never saw that....in 11 eleven years suppoting people of my community...
