HELP!! I'm a non-technical user of Windows 2000 Server. I had a power outage last night. I came home to logon to my home network. Logon works okay until it comes time to bring up my desktop. I can access the Task Manager and open programs though there ... but I can't get my desktop to show up.

Can any benevolent soul out there help me?

Thanks,
Carrie

First thing I would do is restore from yesterday' backup.

As a temporary solution run explorer.exe in Task Manager for the desktop/Start Menu. After that try reinstalling SP4 which should repair any corrupt files. If that fails a repair maybe in order if you have the installation disks.
