Greetings,

I use Windows Live Mail latest version for Email on a laptop running W7. A few days ago I decided to share some pics using the Microsoft product. So I had to sign in to WLM. Lots of activity on the HD with sign in. I shared the photos. Since then, I am prompted to sign in to the WLM account every time I open WLM. If I don't sign in, my calendar entried don't show up. I guess that when I signed in, the calendar was moved from my computer to some cloud someplace so it "is easy to sync" (per MS)with other devices I don't have.

My question is how can I get all my calendar back on my computer so I am not vunerable through singing into MS?

I am so sorry that I used MS software to share photos, and won't do it ever again.

Thanks for your help!

I know you mention Live Mail, but can you clarify what WLM stands for in your post, is it Live Mail, or Live Messenger, that you always have to now sign in to?

Do you have any Calendar files in this location?

C:\Users\usernamexxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Calendar\Calendar

It may be necessary to show Both Hidden and System Files, and also to uncheck "Hide known file types" in Control Panel/ Folder Options/ View, to navigate to the mentioned location.

If you have accidentally changed some setting, or something became corrupted, is System Restore an option to return to the past?

Calendar events do not display properly

Have a look around this site and see if you can find a solution or post in there too.

Calendar Portal

This is the type of information to be found at that site -

"How do I hide or delete a calendar?

Any calendar in your calendar list can be hidden or shown. To hide or show a calendar:

Go to Windows Live Calendar and sign in with your Windows Live ID.
In the Calendar list on the left, select the check box for the calendar that you want to hide or show."

OOPS, WLM is short for Windows Live Mail. I had to switch to it when Microsoft stopped shipping Outlook Express. I used the version that resided on my computer and kept all the files on my computer.

I will check through your suggestions and report back. Thanks

OK, I have signed in an read all the links. I found one that was somewhat similar and said you had to be signed in once you had signed in. I also looked in the Windows Live Mail calendar folder and it was empty. I believe once I signed in the software moved my calendar to a cloud someplace without asking me. I hate it when Microsoft does things like that.

So no progress getting my calendar back on my machine and avoid being logged in.

Thanks for your ideas.

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Try it first by not checking either box (this will run it in a Read-only mode) to see if it flags any hard drive or file problems. If it does, restart it by ticking both boxes, and rerun it to allow it to attempt to fix any found problems.

You could try the the Repair options for Live Mail that are available via Programs and Features/ Windows Live Essentials. If that fails then perhaps the uninstall and reinstall option.

If you test with another Windows user how are things?
