I and new to multi server inviroment and we are adding 2 new server to our network which will give use a total of 8 servers. My under standing is that we will only need 8 standard edition , client Access Licenses. Each of our work stations have there own licenses and we have 50 workstations. So if our workstations have their own licenses then our servers only needed license to access the other services on the the other Servers ? So if we have 8 server our servers need to have 8 CAL licenses ?

Yes, that's mostly right. Most server OS's come with 5 CALs included, so you may have more CALs on hand than you thought. A lot of people don't even count the server-to-server connections as needing CAL's, but they technically do.
