Windows License Key ?

I am installing MM 5.2 in a single server enivronment (MAS/MSS on one server with System Platform). I have successfully installed System Platform-upgraded and patched. Now, I need to configure the template and it requires the WINDOWS LICENSE KEY - unfortunately, the sticker on the server is torn and I don't have all the numbers - have all but ONE digit!!!

ANY way of:

1. Recovering the License Key?

2. Getting into WINDOWS? With monitor plugged into the server, I can get to DOM0. And from my PC, I can get to the CONSOLE. But how do I get to WINDOWS before the template is installed????

Any ideas ??????

As far as i know you can't as it is not on the system yet.

Even if it was the key would not be in it yet.

i believe you can enter the key wrong and move forward with it and then fix it after the install is done, if you can get your hands on it later. youll have 30 days before activation is required. might be able to call Microsoft, but the safest thing to do is return it and get a whole new one. seems like a waste, but thats the only way avaya will take returns is to replace the whole system. i recently had a G650 deliverd and the door was broke. my distributor and Avaya would only do a replacment on the whole cabinet. makes sense, right??
another thought is that you should have a copy of the microsfot agreement that came in a different box, i think with that, Microsoft will issue antoher key for you as a one time favor.

Are you sure that the template will install correctly without a valid Windows license key? I am getting an error at the very end of the template install "NETWORK OF THE MAS NOT REACHABLE NOW". The template actually installs - although I don't think successfully. My MAS is RUNNING but the app is STOPPED and I can't get it running. So, I am assuming it's due to the invalid Windows License Key.

Thoughts????

it sounds like the private ip bridge is not setup so it can talk to the mss internally

i have never been able to get by the lic key window on an install without a valid key

It will let you put any value in the Window License Key field in the TEMPLATE (not DCT) as long as it's in the correct format. But I'm sure somehow it's got to verify it somewhere, doesn't it?

im thinking that it should just drop it in and it doesnt authenticate it unitl you go out and do an activation, thats at least how it works when you use the dell server assistant when installing windows servers. you can edit the registry in a couple spots to change it after the fact. you should also be able to get a temp key from windows.

belarc advisor will tell you what your windows key is. (no good if the key is not yet entered correctly)
