windows IP configuration ?

Lately just before computer shutdown a window comes up
labelled windows IP configuration and it give a list of
command line options,it says something about releasing
adapters.The window disappears after afew seconds and the
shut down process continues.What is happening?what should
I do?or likely,what shouldn't I have done ?Help!!

It sounds like your have a setting that is trying to release the DHCP settings to you IP. Here is an example

You could work avoid the slow release by changing/adding in the registry under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\DHCP"ReleaseLeaseOnShutdown" DWORD=0x00000000
