Hi,
Windows installer is shipped by default with Win2000.
The reason you cannot see it is because it is a Service - you can see it by using Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.

Regards,
Patrick.

Maybe you were also looking for VisualInstaller which is a UI for a Windows Installer setup?

if i want the package my appliaction developed in vb, how will i do that?

For basic/simple setups (simple meaning the amount of functionalitly you need, such as option dialogs, etc, is minimal), use the Visual Installer for Windows Installer("free" from MS), or a 3rd party installation program such as Wise Installaer for Windows Installer.

is there any way i can invoke the windows installer, so that i can get out of usual P & D wizard.
Regards
John

Re-read my posts. Use the Visual installer for which uses Windows Installer. Then you will not have to use the P&D.
