I have set Windows Installer Service in Automatic mode but it remains in stopped mode at boot-up or when I try to install a new program. Once started through services menu, it will install a program if it is a short one but it could stop midway causing installation to hang-up.
Any idea how to keep Window Installer Service permamntly in Start mode.

Thanks

The Default setting for the Windows Installer Service is Manual. Normally it doesn't have to be running on Automatic. It is only Started when needed.

This article may help you to either reregister the Service or re-install the Service.

"Error 1719. The Windows Installer service could not be accessed" error message when you try to add or remove a program

Have you downloaded to newish Version 3.1 Installer?

Windows Installer 3.1 (v2) is available
