Windows installer error 1606

I have a win2k Pro workstation with office 2k and when the user tries to spell check in either ouotlook or word this error pops up - "MS outlook cannot install the necessary files due to Windows installer error 1606. Feature ID not registered."

The spell check then continues like normal. I have downloaded the fix from microsoft and ran the repair - Microsoft KB said it if none of those fixes work it may be a courrupted registry entry.

A reinstall also did not solve the issue. Any ideas?

We will take baby steps here.

Please go to regedit and see if all the key types are the same under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

If all keys say 'REG_EXPAND_SZ' for the data type the problem may be elsewhere. "Age is a high price to pay for maturity."
