Everytime I try to install windows 95 or 98 about 1 minute into the installation the computer crashes and gives this message:

standard mode: bad fault in ms-dos extender
fault:000D Stack Dump: 0000 0000 0020
raw fault frame: EC=0000 IP=94D8 CS=037F FL=3246 SP=000A SS=02DF
the hard drive was low level formatted and is empty and then I ran fdisk and created a primary partiion and formatted that. Could anyone tell me what this message means. Thanks

I'm not by the computer now but all I can remember is its an Athlon 900mhz processor with 128mb ram.

Do both installs from different media give you the same error? If so you probably have a bad hard drive.

Any time that I have ever recieved an error message similar to this, it has been due to bad RAM. Perhaps you should try swapping out what you have for a fresh stick.
